The buffalo’s meaning is protection, strength, survival, honour, respect, to name a few and it is also one of the symbols of the RCMP. The reasons are unknown why the front facing bison head was first used on the badge, but the thoughts have been surrounded with the fact that the RCMP had a close association with the prairie grasslands, where these amazing animals once roamed.
I was a wife of a RCMP member for 15 years, and never registered how much my husband’s career would be a part of my life. Anyone that does this position has my respect; for choosing to take on a career to put their life above a strangers’. It is in honour of all those individuals that we have know, who gave their lives to protect us, those that still serve to protect us, and those that live with the scars of what they experienced on the job that I donate a portion of all profits from this print to the Legacy Place Society.
The Legacy Place Society is for Peace Officers, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Services, 911 Dispatch and Military Personnel. It is a place for them to find help in finding a balanced life away from work. The Legacy Place Society help with issues of Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), Operational Stress Injury (OSI), and the psychological and physiological impact on our First Responder and Military Personnel.
